Best Summer Signing from Every London EPL Team

Best Summer Signing from Every London EPL Team

The summer transfer window has closed for business and teams must now let their football do the talking—that is, until January, when the transfer speculation and endless rumors can bombard us once more.
From the six London teams in the English Premier League this season, all made smart moves of the summer window—strengthening themselves for the year ahead and building on the squad that they had last year.
Let’s take a look at the best player that all six teams signed this summer, with all transfer information courtesy of The Daily Mail.

Arsenal: Santi Cazorla
Through the opening three rounds of the English Premier League, there is little doubt as to how important Santi Cazorla will be for the Gunners this year.
The Spanish international is the focal point of their attack—the player that their go-forward will be created and funneled through—and the player that must thrive this season if they are to have any shot at reaching a top-four position.
Cazorla can do it all through midfield, and he will show just how strong he is this season. For just £16 million, Arsene Wenger has picked up arguably the biggest steal of the summer transfer window and a player that will shine for the North London club this year.
Other notable signings: Lukas Podolski, Olivier Giroud

Chelsea: Eden Hazard
For £30-odd million, you’d want to hope that Eden Hazard will be a good player for Chelsea this season and the first three games of the Premier League have simply confirmed that the money was worth spending by the Blues.
The Belgian international has already picked up three assists, won two penalties and netted a goal of his own for Chelsea this season, and is shaping as one of the top attacking midfielders in the Premier League this year.

Hazard has the ability to make those around him play well—including Fernando Torres—and for that fact alone, he is worthy of mention in this list.
Other notable signings: Oscar, Marko Marin, Victor Moses, Cesar Azpilicueta

Dimitar Berbatov debuts against West Ham United
Fulham: Dimitar Berbatov
After slipping down the ranks at Manchester United in dramatic fashion over the past few years, Dimitar Berbatov had the potential to be one of the biggest steals in the summer transfer window, given a club could negotiate the right price for the striker.
The six-time Bulgarian Player of the Year had already proven himself as one of the top strikers in the Premier League and able to handle the English competition, and with experience under his belt, could be a star signing for any club.
Fulham picked up Berbatov for just £4 million—the same price that Stoke City paid for Liverpool winger Charlie Adam. Hopefully that puts it into context.
Other notable signings: Mladen Petric, Hugo Rodallega

Queens Park Rangers: Fabio Da Silva
Out of all the signings that Queens Park Rangers made this summer—and there were definitely plenty of those—Manchester United defender Fabio Da Silva was the best move that they made, even if it was only a loan deal.
Fabio hadn’t really received any serious game time at Old Trafford to prove just how good he could be in the Premier League, but has been one of QPR’s best players through the opening three rounds of the league—perhaps a testament to just how poor Mark Hughes’ side has been so far.
Fabio is ranked top three at the club in tackles, interceptions, clearances, blocked shots and crosses so far, and could be a key component to keeping the club from relegation this season.
Other notable signings: Ji-Sung Park, Junior Hoilett, Jose Bosingwa, Esteban Granero

Tottenham Hotspur: Moussa Dembele
Simply put, I cannot believe that Fulham let Moussa Dembele go this summer—regardless of how much money they made on the Belgian midfielder.
Dembele had been the Cottagers best player through the first three games and in the 45 minutes he has shown at Tottenham so far, looks likely to carry that form across to White Hart Lane. He is a midfield general—driving the attack and the engine behind most things going forward—and is a huge addition for Andre Villas-Boas this summer.
Given the attacking talent around him and in front of him, Dembele has the potential to turn Spurs’ season around and finally produce the results that they have been promising ever since the year began.
Other notable signings: Clint Dempsey, Jan Vertonghen, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Hugo Lloris, Emmanuel Adebayor

West Ham United: Andy Carroll
Liverpool knew they overpaid for Andy Carroll and they knew they probably needed to let him go out on loan this season; West Ham were happy to oblige and could turn out to be the beneficiary of Carroll’s attacking strength.
Regardless of what form he is in, Carroll’s height makes him a great target in the Premier League and after watching him combine beautifully with teammates he has barely met against Fulham, it seems the England international could be in for a big year at West Ham.
The Hammers were never going to be able to land a striker like Carroll straight out, so picking him up on loan was a great move by Sam Allardyce, and one that could ensure their survival in the English Premier League this season.
Other notable signings: Matt Jarvis, Alou Diarra, Modibo Maiga, Mohamed Diame, Yossi Benayoun

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is a true legend of the game. This weekend, Ferguson led the Red Devils in his 1000th match in the English Premier League, and it took some late heroics to get him his golden victory.
The Red Devils traveled to St. Mary's Stadium to face off against newly promoted, Southampton. The Saints had great history in the EPL during its first decade, but relegation all the way to Npower League One and then promotion back through the Championship took them time to recover and return to the top flight.
Nevertheless, Sir Alex led his club against a bound and determined Saint's team that were first to get on the board thanks to striker Rickie Lambert. Once the home side scored, Manchester United finally tried to exert themselves on the match and found an equalizer through new signing Robin van Persie.
It was not to last though as Southampton once again took the lead through Morgan Schneiderlin in the 55th minute. United would get their chance to pull level in the 69th minute as they were awarded a penalty, and Robin van Persie stepped up to the spot in the absence of injured Wayne Rooney.
However, RVP would make a fool of himself in a cheeky attempt to beat Kelvin Davis, who was having none of it. But, it would be RVP who would be knife in the coffin of the Saints as a late brace in the dying minutes would complete his hat-trick and seal a 3-2 victory for the club.
Sir Alex will be delighted to have won his 1000th game in charge of United in the EPL, and will surely be thanking RVP all the way.

cfimg 2479610672168296646 e1346646953514 300x155 Could Cristiano Ronaldo leave Real Madrid due to professional issues with club?
(Photo by Gonzalo Arroyo Moreno/Getty Images)
This weekend saw Real Madrid finally break their duck in the Spanish La Liga BBVA with their first win of the season coming at the expense of Granada. Ronaldo scored a brace in Madrid's 3-0 victory over the bottom half side, but it was not the story book day many would have thought it to be.
Ronaldo scored his 150th goal for Madrid during the match, but on his two occasions of hitting the back of the net he would not celebrate, and has brought to light a mysterious controversy with the club due to the incident.
According to his comments post match as reported by ESPN, Ronaldo is not happy with Madrid at the moment:
I’m sad because of a professional issue and the club knows why. That’s why I didn’t celebrate the goals, because I’m not happy. The people [at the club] know why.
It’s nothing to do with Andres Iniesta [winning UEFA's Best Player in Europe award]. I won’t talk about this anymore and I will concentrate on Portugal for now. There are more important things [than this].
The people at the club know about this. I cannot say any more.
I’m fine. I am going to Portugal to see if I recover in the next couple of days, because I want to play those two games, which are so important for the team.
This news will certainly come as a shock to many, and it draws some reason for concern as the player is entering the fifth year of his six-year contract with the club that he signed during the summer of 2006 when he was purchased from Manchester United.
If Ronaldo is truly unhappy, there is certain to be more fallout when the Portuguese international returns from World Cup qualifying duty with his national team this coming week.
