Cazorla was thought to be a great signing for the Gunners, but upon his arrival he has proven to be much more capable than many had imagined. His presence was immediately noticed in the opening matches for the club as despite the team not having the most positive results, his link up play was already like he had been in the side for months.
His breakout performance against Liverpool all but sealed the deal for the fans to realize that for the price of £15 million the club might just have achieved one of the steals of the summer.
Arsene Wenger has praised the player and despite initially feeling it might be a little difficult for Cazorla to adapt to the English game, he feels he is more than already fitting it according to comments to the Telegraph:
The Premier League is a bit more special thanks to the rhythm of the games, the pace, the intensity of the commitment, the intensity of every challenge. As the season continues the player is only expected to keep improving and the fact that perhaps only a Spaniard can replace a Spaniard in todayâs game continues to be proven again and again. With each passing week, Cazorla has proven to be more in tune with both the English Premier Leagueâs pace and the free flowing attacking style of Arsene Wengerâs Arsenal.
Sometimes it is difficult to adapt to that, but the way we play is a very continental style, so it gives them a good chance to adapt very quickly.
Players like Cazorla have adapted in a speedy way; the game goes through them. Sometimes it is easy to adapt in the middle of the park because the game goes more through you.
He has gained the respect of everybody very quickly. Cazorla is humble, he loves the game and that is what you want from every football player.
It will be equally interesting to see how Cazorla links up with young Jack Wilshere once the Englishman returns to full fitness and is making regular first team appearances. Cazorla has already proven he can work effectively with Aaron Ramsey and Mikel Arteta and Wilshere is truly the last remaining piece that remains untested with the former Malaga maestro.
With a massive match between the Gunners and Chelsea this weekend, one can only expect Cazorla to shine against some of the best competition in the league he has faced so far. Both John Obi Mikel and the back line of John Terry and either David Luiz or Gary Cahill will have to be warry of every attack that the Spanish field general is a part of.
