According to ESPN analyst John Brewinâs twitter account @JohnBrewinESPN this morning, Friday Oct. 19, 2012, Arsenal have named 20-year-old midfield wonder Jack Wilshere in the squad to face Norwich City on Saturday afternoon:
The man is back: Jack Wilshere in Arsenal squad. Surely only a watching brief but good news nonetheless. The news that young Wilshere is only about a week away from potentially his first English Premier League start in over a year is the best news any Gunner could have asked for ahead of what should be a guaranteed three points at Carrow Road this Saturday.
According to Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger, Wilshere is not completely ready for prolonged action but his comments were hugely positive during his pre-match press conference on Friday morning as quoted by ESPN:
Jack is 80% match fit now and maybe needs one more game before he is back.Wilshere could make a small cameo in the latter half of the match if it is one that the Gunners are comfortable with. However, he is expected to make his full return in a substitution potentially next weekend when the club host Queens Park Rangers at the Emirates.
There is no apprehension for him in challenges. Maybe he will play for the Under-21s on Monday night and then we can look at it.
The road to recovery has been a long and hard one for Wilshere, but after a strong reserves performance against Chelsea this past week, and the continued support from his manager, club and most importantly his fans it looks as though he will complete his full recovery in the next two weeks.
